Peter Murphy is a freelance photographer based in the New York area who specializes in photographing people for business, advertising, and editorial clients worldwide. His work has appeared in publications such as Time, American Photo, Wired, Salon.com, Communication Arts, GQ, Forbes, and The New York Times among others. Born in New York City, studied international politics in Philadelphia, and returned to New York to pursue his love of photography. For three years he was the assistant to the legendary photographer Jay Maisel where he was often sweeping the corner of Bowery & Spring Street and sometimes flying around the world. He went on to become a location scout for advertising - including some of the famous Absolut Vodka ads. These days, he primarily shoots environmental portraits. He resides with his family in rural New Jersey. When he's not taking pictures, he spends a lot of time fixing his old house.
